MISO stakeholders converge hundreds of time each year to deliberate the most important issues facing the utility industry. In the month of June, we turn one of these meetings into a three-day affair. Yay, a three-day meeting! Just kidding – trust me; we know how much everyone loves meetings. That is why we are doing things a little bit different this year at our Annual Stakeholder’s Meeting, June 21-23 at the MGM Grand in Detroit, Michigan
The festivities begin on Tuesday after the System Planning Committee of the Board of Directors and the lineup promises to be one of the best so far.
- John Catlin Memorial Golfing Outing-This year’s golf outing takes place at TPC Michigan. Designed by Jack Nicklaus, this beautiful course has played host to a total of 16 PGA and Senior PGA tour events over its 26 year history. So pack up your sticks and see if you have what it takes to earn this year’s title!
- Henry Ford Museum-If you agree with the great Mark Twain who coined the phrase “Golf is a good walk spoiled” then join us for a tour of the Henry Ford Museum. At this stop you will have the opportunity to see the Corliss Stationery Steam Engine, patented in 1849. Unfortunately no facilities using this technology cleared MISO’s recent Planning Resource Auction! Other highlights of the tour include the presidential vehicle display and going through Ford’s Rogue Factory which was completed in 1928. In the 1930’s over 100,000 people were employed at this single facility.
- Motown Museum Tour-If you are not a car gal or guy and golf still isn’t you thing, you’re in luck because we saved the best for last. Motown baby! Motown Records was founded in 1959 by the great Berry Gordy. Visitors will get the opportunity to stand in Studio A where legends such as Stevie Wonder, Marvin Gaye, and the Jackson 5 recorded many of their greatest hits.We will wrap up the day with the annual Board of Directors’ reception from 5:30-6:45.Down to Business
Instead of a full day meeting on Wednesday, the Annual Meeting will run from 10am – 1:45pm. We are pleased and honored to announce that Michigan Governor, Richard Snyder, will provide our key note address, kicking off the discuss of the ‘Utility of the Future.’ Following Governor Snyder’s remarks, Bob Gee from Gee Strategies Group will once again join us as the moderator for our panel of top industry professionals who will carry forward the Utility of the Future discussion. Their wealth of knowledge will provide MISO stakeholders with invaluable information on a range of topics including the changes resulting from the Supreme Court’s stay of the Clean Power Plan, the evolving generation mix in MISO’s footprint, and the challenges of incorporating alternative technologies such as distributed solar and battery storage into the electric power grid. Meet our panelists.
A meeting of the MISO Advisory Committee rounds out the afternoon’s meetings and then, drum roll please… we are heading to Comerica Park to watch the Tigers and the Mariners.
If you have not yet registered to attend the Annual Stakeholders’ Meeting, please get your RSVP in by June 13th 4 PM Eastern Time.
Hope to see you all in Detroit!
